Bali is a wonderful place to visit, it really is. Horror stories and negative comments abound when discussing this island, but in the end it is a nice place to be. If you steer clear of Kuta and other obvious tourist traps, you can really enjoy yourself. Also, learn to completely ignore other human beings, because you will be pestered to buy random worthless crap at nearly every turn.
Mostly, Bali is easy. There are lots of tourists here, so getting around is simple, most people speak good english and the local Hindu culture is far more accepting of tourists than the strict Muslim culture of Northern Sumatra. This is the reason we chose to come to Bali. We met up wth Jessica and Garth and set forth to have more of a fun time than an honest surfing adventure.

Good time for sure, but today our paths split. Kevin and I fly to Padang to get on a boat for 2 weeks, Garth leaves to go to Krui in a couple days and Jessica, unfortunately, has to head back to California and get back to work on the 23rd.
Best wishes for all in their own adventures, the swell looks amazing for the first 2/3 of the boat trip. I'm looking forward to getting some great surf and giving my liver some well deserved rest.
