Traveling alone has it's ups and downs. Sometimes being alone is a benefit, but mostly it pales in comparison to having a friend or two around, simply for the comaraderie. Since Kevin headed back to California on the 5th of October, I haven't been going it alone, but the trip is not the same. After Big Kev and I got off the Budyadahri, I met up with my mother and step father in Padang and headed back out to the Mentawais. Michael, my step father, has a good friend who used to run the Kandui Resort and now runs the Kandui Beach Villas. I still can't believe my amazing luck, I got to stay at the Kandui Villas for two weeks, for free. We just had to pay for our transportation. The Villas are an amazing set up, you walk 20 yards to the beach and there is Kandui Left, super heavy, slabbing beast that it is. I also got to surf Rifles, 4 Bobs and a handful of other waves in the Playgrounds area. It has been a wonderful couple of weeks, but now the surf trip is over. I am back on Bali, doing tourist stuff for the next few days. I fly back to Hawaii late on the 24th and then this whole adventure, that started in April, is truly over. It is kind of sad, but life has a natural forward progression that we are helpless to fight. And why would we want to when the next adventure is what we are being moved towards?
This isn't Kandui Left. The sequence was too long, this is half of the shots.
It's only been a day since I've been surfing and I am already mind-surfing random objects.
It has been a ripping good time everyone!
Happy trails and hollow tubes.
Over and out.
